Featherwork

My inspiration with feathers originally came from my fascination with Native American Indians.  To them the feather represented a badge of honour.  I wanted to bring to mind their battles and suffering in massacres during the 19th century.  Snowy white goose feathers were hand printed with the names of these conflicts and then positioned in concentric circles, stabbing the wall in imitation of arrows to form the shape of a traditional Indian headdress.

More recently I have manipulated feathers by burning them, and combined them with text in a lighter way, to illustrate quotations.
